BookPeople Press Releases: "Bakerella" Angie Dudley; Daily Show Exec Prod. David Javerbaum

We'd like to say a big thank you to everyone who helped us spread the word about our first annual Halloween Storytime & Book Give-Away. Over 75 families joined us last night for a wonderful evening of stories, a costume parade and to trick-or-treat for books. BookPeople CEO Steve Bercu perhaps had the most fun of all, putting books directly in the hands of our community's young readers. We look forward to making this an annual celebration and hope to inspire bookstores nationwide to join us in encouraging literacy by handing out books rather than candy to children on Halloween. (Adorable) photos are up online. We attached one of our favorite photos from last night to share the fun. Thank you again, the night was a big success!

Attached and summarized below please find two press releases regarding two upcoming events.

GOD'S CO-AUTHOR (AND EXECUTIVE PRODUCER OF THE DAILY SHOW) DAVID JAVERBAUM COMES TO BOOKPEOPLE

God's mortal amanuensis, DAVID JAVERBAUM, who coincidentally is also the winner of twelve Emmy Awards as Executive Producer of The Daily Show with John Stewart, will speak & sign the new book he co-authored with God, The Last Testament: A Memoir (Simon & Schuster; $23.99; 11/1/11) at BookPeople on Monday, November 28th, 7pm.

It's the celebrity memoir to end all celebrity memoirs - as the earth he has godded so magnificently draws to a Mayan-induced close, God breaks his 1,400-year literary silence with his final masterpiece, The Last Testament. As dictated to twelve-time Emmy Award–winning comedy writer David Javerbaum, God looks back with unprecedented candor on his time in the public sector. But The Last Testament doesn't just look back. It also offers God's perspectives on the perennial quagmires of love, marriage, and smiting.

Javerbaum will speak, take questions and sign books at this event. This event is free and open to the public. All books signed at BookPeople events must be purchased at BookPeople. For a full listing of upcoming events, visit www.bookpeople.com.

ANGIE DUDLEY (AKA BAKERELLA) COMES TO BOOKPEOPLE

Creator of the phenomenally successful Bakerella.com ANGIE DUDLEY will speak & sign her bestselling cookbook, Cake Pops: Tips, Tricks and Recipes for More Than 40 Irresistible Mini-Treats (Chronicle Books; $19.95; 10/10) and her brand new Cake Pops Kit (Chronicle Books; $19.95; 11/2/11) at BookPeople on Thursday, December 1st, 7pm.

Folks who love cake pops have Angie Dudley to thank – her blog, Bakerella.com, which Dudley originally created to help herself keep track of her baking and decorating adventures – introduced this sweet treat to the world. The bestselling cookbook Cake Pops followed the internet sensation, and now BookPeople is thrilled to welcome Angie Dudley to Austin with Cake Pops as well as her latest offering, Cake Pops Kit, an adorable kit for presenting these cute little treats. This kit is a perfect gift for bakers and crafters alike!

Dudley will speak, take questions from the audience, and sign both the cookbook and the new kit at this event. This event is free and open to the public. All books signed at BookPeople events must be purchased at BookPeople. For a full listing of upcoming events, visit www.bookpeople.com.
